Bambu Lab Overtakes Creality as World Top Budget 3D Printer Brand

Bambu Lab Dethrones Creality as the World’s Top-Selling Budget 3D Printer Brand
The 3D printing industry has undergone a seismic shift. According to fresh data from Context World Research, Bambu Lab has overtaken Creality to become the world’s leading budget 3D printer brand, holding a commanding 37% share of the sub-$2,500 segment. Creality, Elegoo, and Anycubic round out the top four — but it’s the story behind these numbers that reveals where the industry is headed.
Entry-Level Printers Drive a Market Recovery
The headline figure is striking: entry-level 3D printer shipments surged 47% year-over-year in Q4 2025, with full-year growth of 26%. This wave of affordable printers pulled the entire global 3D printing market out of a two-year slump, reaching an estimated $16 billion in total revenue for 2025 according to AM Research — roughly 10% year-over-year growth.
Context’s Q4 report described 2025 as a year of two halves: the first mirrored the sluggish conditions of 2023 and 2024, while the second saw momentum return strongly. Total market revenue grew from $4 billion in Q3 to $4.26 billion in Q4.
How Bambu Lab Won the Budget War
Bambu Lab’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. When Context published Q1 2025 data, Creality still led the entry-level category with a 39% share. Bambu Lab trailed in second place with 64% year-over-year shipment growth. Over the following three quarters, that explosive growth rate widened the gap enough for Bambu Lab to claim the top spot.
A key differentiator has been Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld model-sharing platform, which reached approximately 10 million monthly active users by the end of 2025, with an impressive 83% user retention rate after one year. The platform’s ecosystem approach — combining quality hardware with a thriving community of models — has proven to be a winning strategy.
China’s Dominance in Budget 3D Printing
Chinese manufacturers now account for more than 90% of global entry-level 3D printer shipments. This concentration is increasing even as the market attracts more outside capital. Creality is preparing for an initial public offering, and other major players are drawing investment from Chinese financial firms.
However, the professional and midrange segments tell a different story. Systems priced between $2,500 and $20,000 saw shipments fall 12% in Q4 and 15% for the full year, with Formlabs holding 38% market share. Midrange systems ($20,000 to $100,000) also declined, dropping 6% in Q4 and 12% for the year — partly attributed to industry consolidation and mergers during 2025.
What 2026 Holds for the 3D Printing Industry
Context projects growth across every price segment in 2026, with entry-level systems expected to expand the fastest and industrial shipments forecast to post near double-digit percentage increases. The firm cited several tailwinds:
- Loosening U.S. interest rates encouraging capital investment
- Strength in China’s domestic market
- Continued momentum in aerospace and defense applications
