The F870 delivers a build volume of 1,000 x 610 x 610 mm (39.4 x 24 x 24 inches), offering 372,000 cubic centimeters of build capacity. Its maximum diagonal build length of 1,171 mm gives it the longest heated build capacity in its class, making it possible to produce jigs, fixtures, and assembly tools that previously required CNC machining or outsourcing.

The system maintains a heated build chamber at 95 degrees Celsius, ensuring consistent layer adhesion and dimensional accuracy across large-format prints. A built-in regenerative drying system keeps materials in optimal condition, while the printer requires no external shop air thanks to an integrated vacuum pump.

Materials Designed for Manufacturing

At launch, the F870 supports nine materials, including FDM Nylon 12CF (a carbon-fiber-reinforced nylon offering exceptional strength-to-weight ratio), ABS-M30 Black for general-purpose industrial parts, and ASA available in six colors for UV-resistant outdoor applications. A new FDM ABS Draft Gray formulation is slated for Q3 2026, designed for rapid prototyping where speed matters more than surface finish.

The SR-35 soluble support material simplifies post-processing for complex geometries, allowing manufacturers to produce intricate assemblies without manual support removal.

Three Print Heads for Every Job

The F870 uses three interchangeable N-series print heads, each optimized for different manufacturing scenarios:

  • N14 — Delivers layer resolutions of 0.18, 0.25, or 0.33 mm at 25 cc/hour, ideal for precision tooling and inspection gauges.
  • N20H — Prints at 0.25 mm layers using Nylon 12CF at 21 cc/hour, built for structural fixtures and carbon-fiber tooling.
  • N25 — Operates at 0.33 mm layers, pushing up to 66 cc/hour for high-volume ASA fixtures and large prototypes — roughly double the N14’s throughput.

Tool-free print head replacement minimizes downtime when switching between materials or applications on a busy production floor.

Unattended Production for Two Weeks

One of the F870’s most compelling features for manufacturers is its capacity for extended unattended operation. Four material spools with 4,100-cubic-centimeter capacity each, combined with automatic material changeover, support up to two weeks of continuous printing without operator intervention. These spools are shared with the Stratasys F3300 system, giving existing customers material compatibility across their fleet.

Toyota and Rivian: Early Validation

Toyota Production Engineering, operating out of the company’s Georgetown, Kentucky facility, and Rivian Automotive at its Plymouth, Michigan site, are among the first manufacturers evaluating the F870. Both companies are testing the platform across factory-floor tooling, manufacturing aids, and advanced prototyping workflows ahead of commercial availability.

It supports MTConnect connectivity for factory data systems and runs on GrabCAD Print, GrabCAD Print Pro, Control Center, and Insight software. The system operates on three-phase 208-volt, 30-amp power, making it compatible with standard industrial electrical infrastructure.
